Cheyenne

I am a member of the Northern Cheyenne Nation and a descendant of the So-taaeo-o.   We call ourselves the Morning Star People,  Tse-tsehes-staestse, meaning “The People”, and the So-taaeo-o, “The Buffalo People”.  Together we are a beautiful nation.  My Cheyenne name is Woqqa-Woka-Mahstse, “White Eagle”, a descendant of Wolf on The Hill, “Highback Wolf” and “She Who Bathes Her Knees”.  I am also a descendant of the Chief’s Society and the Dog Solder Society.

My art is a diversity of reflections of the values, visions, dreams and stories told to me by my family, relatives, and elders of the Cheyenne.

To be a traditional and contemporary artist at this time is my life is very  rewarding and it is my honor to share these evolving times with everyone.  The traditional style keeps me in touch with the Cheyenne and So-taaeo-o culture and while the contemporary gives me the freedom to be creative.  In my heart there is the Creator who leads me in this circle of life to continue on a beautiful journey to meet other nations of the world.

My acting credits include roles in “Return to Lonesome Dove” (1993), “Last of the Dogmen” (1994), and “The Untold Story, Little Bighorn” (1999).
